Slovenian political leaders have showed their unified position in the European Union (EU) post-Brexit that Slovenia should take an active stance for the successful development of the EU.
The stance was taken after political parties held post-Brexit consultations with President Borut Pahor on Tuesday, according to the Slovenian Press Agency (STA).
"Slovenia will strengthen its role in the Schengen zone and the eurozone," Pahor emphasized after the meeting, saying party leaders will strive to coordinate their views on the most important decisions concerning the EU's development and the role of Slovenia in the bloc.
"Though Slovenia is a small country, we must not wait for the events to control us, we must control the events in line with our interests," he said.
Slovenian Prime Minister Miro Cerar endorsed the president's view saying that the government would actively monitor the processes triggered by Britain's referendum by establishing a task force at the Foreign Ministry which will actively collaborate with other such groups in the 27 non-UK EU member states.
