Croatian international Rebic joins Frankfurt

Xinhua, July 5, 2016 Adjust font size:

Eintracht Frankfurt and Fiorentina' s Ante Rebic have agreed on a loan deal, the Bundesliga club confirmed in an official statement on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old striker, who played on loan at Hellas Verona, has penned a one-year loan deal, which includes an option to make the move permanent. However, both sides agreed to keep silence over further contract details.

"We are pleased that we were able to implement the coach' s recommendation on signing Ante Rebic from Fiorentina. (Head coach) Niko Kovac is convinced that Rebic can help us in the offense," Frankfurt' s sporting director Bruno Huebner said.

Frankfurt's new arrival played in Germany' s second division for Leipzig, where he made ten appearances from 2014 until 2015. Since 2013, Rebic provided one goal in eight caps for Croatia' s national team.

"I am pleased that the transfer worked out. I know Niko Kovac very well. He appointed me into Croatia' s Under-21 team and later into the senior team. Now I am looking forward to work with him and to justify the trust in me," Rebic told the club' s official homepage.

Frankfurt ensured another season in Germany' s top flight after beating Nuremberg 2-1 on aggregate in the relegation/promotion playoff. The "Eagles" will open their season against Schalke on August 27. Endit
