Brazil World Cup winner joins German fourth-tier club

Xinhua, July 3, 2016 Adjust font size:

Brazil World Cup winner Lucio has signed with German fourth-tier club Waldhof Mannheim, according to media reports on Saturday.

The 38-year-old former Selecao captain has not played since ending a four-month spell with FC Goa in the Indian Super League in December.

Brazil's Lance news portal said the deal was signed on Friday, without providing further details.

Lucio won 107 international caps and was part of Brazil's 2002 World Cup-winning team. As captain, he led the Selecao to the 2009 Confederations Cup title.

The central defender's club career has included spells at Bayern Munich, Juventus and Inter Milan. Endit
