1st LD: Suicide bombing rocks east Afghan province, killing 3

Xinhua, July 2, 2016 Adjust font size:

At least three persons were killed and 10 civilians were wounded as a suicide bombing ripped through a neighborhood in Jalalabad city, capital of eastern Afghanistan's Nangarhar province, on Saturday, a provincial source said.

"Three persons, including the suicide bomber, were killed and 10 others wounded after the attacker detonated his explosive at around 10:00 a.m. local time in police district 10th of the city. This is the initial information by our security forces and the number may change," the source told Xinhua anonymously.

The obvious target of the attack might have been a local leader named Hajji Hayat Khan, as the attack occurred near Khan's house but further details about the incident were not immediately available, according to witnesses.

The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital and security forces have cordoned off the area for precautionary measures.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet. Endit
