Germany's benchmark DAX index closes higher

The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Thursday continued to rise and closed at 9,680.09 points.

Around one week after the referendum in Britain about its membership in the European Union, the stock market here appears to be recovering from the shock. The blue-chip DAX index added 67.82 points, or 0.71 percent.

The two utilities companies EON and RWE each climbed by 6.81 percent and 2.83 percent. Beiersdorf, a personal care company, advanced by 3.3 percent. Adidas gained 2.11 percent. Deutsche Telekom went up by 1.76 percent.

On the other hand, Deutsche Bank fell by 2.65 percent. HeidelbergCement slipped by 1.29 percent. SAP lost 0.83 percent. Commerzbank dropped by 0.7 percent and Deutsche Boerse plunged by 0.5 percent.

Deutsche Bank was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 319.14 million euros (353.69 million U.S. dollars). Endit
