JSE closes higher in two consecutive days

The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) all-share index rose 1.47 percent to close at 51,890.42 points on Wednesday.

The rand was trading at R14.79 to the US dollar, R19.98 to the British pound and R16.43 to the euro at close of trading session.

Resources regained 2.66 percent amid an uptick in underlying commodity prices,

Among individual shares on the JSE, Anglo American was up 8.56 percent to R139.20, with BHP Billiton gaining 1.21 percent to R183.36.

British American Tobacco was 1.03 percent higher at R933.03 while Imperial Holdings slipped 2.43 percent to R140.62.

Amongst the top ten movers up was DRD Gold whose shares rose 7.59 percent to sell at R8.50 after investors exchanged 689,590 shares in 286 deals. Endit
