Indian stocks close higher

Indian stocks closed higher Tuesday as a proposed huge pay bonanza for government employees and good monsoon rains were expected to trigger a consumption boom in the country.

The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex closed at 26,524.55, 121.59 points or 0.46 percent up from previous close of 26,402.96, with a turnover of 451.88 crore rupees (about 66.6 million U.S. dollars). Endit
