A symposium was held Friday to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of the late Chinese leader Gen. Li Desheng.

Li was a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and a member of the Central Military Commission (CMC). He died in Beijing in 2011 at the age of 95.

Liu Yunshan, a Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, attended the symposium and met with Li's family.

CMC vice chairman Xu Qiliang told attendees to emulate Li's loyalty to the Party, his courage to overcome difficulties and other virtues such as pragmatic service for the people and indifference to personal fame and wealth. Endi
