Europe will stand together now: German Finance Minister

German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble said on Friday that Europe would stand together after Britain decided to leave the European Union in a historic referendum on Thursday.

"We respect the outcome of the British referendum," Schaeuble said in a statement, "I had hoped for a different result. Now we must look forward and deal with this situation."

"Europe will stand together now," he said, adding that he would also be in close contact with other G7 countries today. The British Leave camp has won the historic referendum early morning by obtaining nearly 52 percent of ballots, pulling the country out of the 28-nation bloc after its 43 years of membership.
