China's U-19 defeating Thailand 2:1 in training match

Xinhua, June 23, 2016 Adjust font size:

China's U-19 football team came back from a goal behind to defeat Thailand 2-1 in a training match here on Wednesday.

Before the match, China has already played Japan, Croatia and Czech Republic in the Panda Cup, a youth tournament held here to prepare the team for the upcoming AFC Youth Championship.

The weather was muggy today. The speed of the game was slow from the beginning, although Thailand held an upper hand in ball-possession. In the 35th minute Thailand seized on a Chinese player's fault in midfield and took the lead as Sihanart Sutthisak scored a goal.

But in the second half the host team increased the pressure while Thailand settled back and launched several dangerous counter-attacks. China' s long-waited equaliser came when striker Hu Jinghang turned in right-wing cross from Yang Liyu.

China started to dominate the game when Thailand players seemed to have run out of energy. Striker Gao Haisheng scored in stoppage time, securing China's 2-1 victory. Enditem
