Singapore's president to visit Germany

Singapore's President Tony Tan Keng Yam will make a working visit to Germany from Thursday to June 28, according to the President's Office on Wednesday.

President Tan will be attending the 66th Lindau Meeting in his capacity as a member of the Honorary Senate of the Foundation Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings. He was inducted into the Honorary Senate in July 2012.

This year's Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting will focus on the field of physics. The annual gathering brings 30 to 40 Nobel Laureates to meet with the next generation of leading scientists from around the world, including undergraduates, Ph.D. students and post-doctorate researchers.

President Tan will also meet with senior officials from Deutsche Bank and Deutsche Bundesbank during his trip, said the statement. He will host a reception for Singaporeans in Frankfurt additionally.

During President Tan's absence, Speaker of the Parliament Halimah Yacob will cover the duties of the office of the President. Enditem
