Ajax sign Colombian defender Sanchez

After striker Mateo Cassierra, Ajax attracted another player from Colombia, central defender Davinson Sanchez from Atletico Nacional, the Amsterdam based club announced on Tuesday.

Sanchez signed a five-year deal until mid-2021. "This is a great day for me," he said on the Ajax website. "I am happy to join Ajax."

FC Barcelona also were interested in the 20-year-old defender, but the Catalan giants wanted to let him play for the second team first. FC Basel from Switzerland wanted to buy Sanchez as well.

Sanchez is the second signing of new Ajax coach Peter Bosz, who succeeded Frank de Boer this summer. Last Friday Ajax announced the arrival of another Colombian, Cassierra from Deportivo Cali. The 19-year-old striker signed a contact for five years in Amsterdam as well. Endit
