Real Madrid will take up their option to buy back striker Alvaro Morata from Serie A Champions, Juventus, the General Director of the Italian club, Giuseppe Marotta confirmed on Tuesday.
Madrid sold the 22-year-old Spain international to Juventus two years ago for 20 million euros (around 22 million US dollars) and will have to pay 30 million to buy him back.
"Real Madrid have informed us of their intention and we expect the paperwork to be concluded in a matter of days," said Marotta in the Spanish press.
Despite returning to the club where he began his career, Morata still faces an uncertain future, given that he has said he would be unhappy with being fourth choice striker behind Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema and Real Madrid will probably look to cash in by selling him to a top club in the English Premier league for considerably more than 30 million Euros.
However, Morata' s two goals in Spain' s 3-0 win over Turkey on Friday night could still tempt the club to keep him, given that his profile has been raised by his international success and his inclusion in the squad would increase the presence of former Real Madrid youth system players under the direction on Zinedine Zidane.
Real Madrid are also rumored to be interested in Juve' s French international midfielder, Paul Pogba, but Marotta ruled out selling the Frenchman, saying he was a "vital part of the present and future of Juventus." Enditem
