Nigeria's para-weightlifting athletes have regrouped to perfect their training ahead of the 2016 Paralympics which will be held in Brazil in September, an official said on Tuesday.

The technical director of the Nigeria Para-Power-lifting Federation (NPPF) Samuel Ekeoma told Xinhua News Agency that the power-lifters have resumed camp in Abuja, the nation's capital, to properly engage themselves and perfect their strategies ahead of the quadrennial games scheduled to be held from Sept. 7 to Sept. 18.

He said the local weightlifting federation had already made out a training plan aimed at improving the performance of the athletes at the Paralympics.

The official said the athletes, in a bid to surpass the nation's previous performance at the games, responded well in training. The Nigerian para-weightlifters won six gold medals, five silver medals and two bronze medals at the London 2012 Paralympics. Endit
