Free entry into Namibia-Mozambique Cosafa Cup match

Xinhua, June 21, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Namibia Football Association said Monday that entry into Tuesday's 2016 Cosafa Castle Cup between Namibia and Mozambique will be free.

Namibia that lost to Botswana by 5-4 on penalties Saturday before a packed Sam Nujoma Stadium wants to at least walk away with the Plate trophy as consolation.

Tuesday's match is also set for the Sam Nujoma Stadium where the organizers were forced to open the gates to fans who could not get tickets but turned up.

In a media statement Monday, the football association said they want to show appreciation for the massive turnout they saw for Saturday's match.

"This is our way of thanking all those who braved the weather," the association's secretary general Barry Rukoro said in the statement.

Zambia will also play Lesotho at the same stadium before the Namibia Mozambique game.

Namibia's coach Ricardo Mannetti is hopeful that his players are ready to rectify Saturday's mistakes.

Mannetti also said the pain for losing to Botswana was heavy on both the fans and players.

"To see so many Namibians behind the team was unprecedented, but the result was one to forget. We have to get over it and focus on the next game against Mozambique, and try to go all the way in the Plate section," he said. Endit
