Togolese Islamic leaders teach Islamic values in anti-terrorism forum

Muslim religious leaders in Togo on Sunday organized a forum in Lome, during which they taught about Islamic values in a bid to fight against terrorism and contribute to an atmosphere of brotherhood between Muslims and non-Muslims.

"There are people who carry out terrorist acts in the name of Islam yet Islam teaches us to love peace and condemn terrorism," the president of Togolese Muslim Association Akata Sidick said.

Sidick noted that Islam is a universal religion that is open to all. It involves believing one and absolute God and promotion of peace, yet terrorism consists of an individual or a group of individuals inflicting harm or terror on other people or states.

He said that "before knowing how to fight terrorism, we should first understand how it is born."

Sidick also denounced people who fund terrorist organizations and urged both Muslims and non-Muslims to contribute in the fight against terrorism in all its forms. Endit
