Armando Sadiku' s goal helped freshman Albania beat Romania 1-0 on Sunday for their first victory in Euro Finals.
Albania had started slowly in their two previous games, and did so again Sunday. However, forward Sadiku, 25, scored in the 43th from Memushaj pass, which was their first goal in Euro 2016.
"The plan was to wait for Romania and attack the spaces," Albania coach Gianni de Biasi said. "We expected a strong start from them but we were ready to counter-attack."
"If you score goals you get results, today we were able to contain a squad which had strength and quality," De Biasi said. "Tonight we won with heart, with quality."
Albania lost to Switzerland and France in the first two round, and got three points in total.
Albania faced an anxious wait to find out if they qualify for the last 16 as one of the best third-placers. The final round of group games will come to a close on Wednesday evening.
Romania only get one point, and were dumped out of EURO 2016 at the group stage. Endit
