Xinhua, June 19, 2016 Adjust font size:

A Syrian warplane crashed on Sunday right after taking off from one of the military bases in central Syria, state news agency SANA reported.

The aircraft crashed after taking off from a military base in central province of Hama due to a multifunction, said SANA, spelling no further details.

The Syrian army has recently opened a new front in the countryside of Hama under cover of the Syrian air force to push toward the de facto capital of the Islamic State (IS) in northern Syria.

The battles started from Athraya town in Hama countryside and reached the countryside of al-Raqqa province, the IS capital. Endit
