Xinhua, June 17, 2016 Adjust font size:

Tokyo stocks rose from the opening bell on Friday as investor sentiment was boosted by Wall Street's rise overnight and motivated them to seek out bargains after the market's tumble on Thursday.

As of 9:15 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 233.65 points, or 1.51 percent, from Thursday to 15,667.79.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, rose 16.30 points, or 1.31 percent, to 1,257.86.

All industry categories on the main section advanced, with air transportation, insurance and precision instrument issues comprising early notable gainers. Endit
