Tanzania to establish embassy in Qatar

Tanzania on Thursday expressed its intention of establishing its embassy in Qatar to promote and further bilateral relations between the countries.

President John Magufuli made the remarks when he met with Qatar Ambassador to Tanzania, Abdallah Jassim Al Maadadi, adding there is a wide range of investment opportunities including natural gas in Tanzania.

Magufuli said that Tanzania has more than 75 trillion cubic feet of natural gas that needs to be exploited.

"We have plans to revamp the national airline-Air Tanzania Corporation Limited (ATCL) and Qatar has experience in these areas, that's why Tanzania needs cooperation from the Gulf Nation," he said, adding "We would like to cooperate with our colleagues from Qatar in different ways...in this cooperation experts from the two nations will exchange experiences."

Qatar ambassador Abdallah Jassim Al Maadadi commended Tanzania for the intention to establish an embassy in his Gulf nation, saying the move will strengthen relations between the two countries.

He assured the Tanzanian leader that that Qatar business community was ready to invest in Tanzania. Endit
