Xinhua, June 17, 2016 Adjust font size:

Belarus has successfully tested its new multiple-launch rocket system (MLRS) Polonez, the defence ministry said on Thursday.

MRLS Polonez, designed to deliver strikes against enemy in the open and in shelters, can deliver strikes as far as 50-200km with a high degree of precision.

As part of the live fire test, unmanned aerial vehicles were used to feed real-time data about the target to the multiple-launch rocket system, the ministry said.

The system will enter into service in 2016.

Earlier Thursday, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said the test of the new missile armament was "very successful."

"Today is a happy day for us from the point of view of security and defense," Lukashenko said, adding that "our military managed to develop a Belarusian missile armament." Endit
