Tens of people died on Wednesday during a protest by former militia fighters at Kamina military base in Lubumbashi, southwest of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo), eyewitnesses have said.

HANOI -- A CASA aircraft with nine people aboard lost contact Thursday afternoon while carrying out rescue mission in waters off northern Hai Phong city in Vietnam, an official from the National Committee for Search and Rescue told Xinhua.

CAIRO -- The Egyptian Aircraft Accident Investigation Committee said Thursday the cockpit voice recorder of crashed EgyptAir flight MS804 has been recovered but found damaged.

"The device has been recovered in several stages as it was found damaged, but the vessel managed to salvage the part containing the memory unit, which is the most important in the voice recorder," the investigation committee said in a statement. (Egypt-Crash-Voice Recorder)

CAIRO -- Two policemen were shot dead in Egypt's North Sinai province, the Interior Ministry said in a statement Thursday.
