A corrupt Chinese former official who had been on the run abroad since 2013 has been brought back to south China's Guangdong Province, local authorities said Wednesday.
Wang Yanwei, who was chairman of people's political consultative conference of Huadu District of Guangzhou, the provincial capital, is suspected of taking bribes. He went missing in June, 2013.
China launched its "Sky Net" campaign in April, 2015, aiming to bring back 100 suspects accused of economic crimes who have fled overseas.
With the space for graft and power abuse considerably narrowed at home after years of anti-corruption efforts, China is increasingly looking to for international cooperation in apprehending suspects overseas.
A total of 29 suspects on the list have been brought back so far. Endi
