Orlando police continue search for toddler taken by alligator in Disneyland

The Orlando police said Wednesday that they are still searching for the two-year-old boy who was dragged into the water by an alligator on the shores of Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Tuesday night.

The boy, whose name was not yet available, was dragged into the Seven Seas Lagoon at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday (0130 GMT Wednesday) when he was wading in the water with his parents and four-year-old sister despite "no swimming" signs being posted nearby.

Officials from the Orange County Sheriff's Office said there is little hope of finding the boy alive but the search will continue.

"Prepare for the best, hope for the best," an official said.

Deputies from the Sheriff's Office are using sonar today to search the man-made lake, also a helicopter and 10-person dive team, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

The police also said the father went into the water to wrest his son from the grip of the 2.1-meter reptile but was not successful.

The family, visiting from Nebraska, was relaxing near the water's edge when the horrible incident took place.

This is only the latest tragedy in the Orlando area in the past few days.

Singer Christina Grimmie was shot down by a gunman after a concert at Plaza Live on Friday. Early Sunday, a gunman named Omar Mateen sprayed bullets into a night club, killing 49 before he was killed by law enforcement. Endi
