Unemployed Russians reach 1 million last week

The number of officially registered unemployed Russians amounted to 1.004 million in the first week of June, the Russian Ministry of Labor and Social Protection said Wednesday.

The unemployment rate for the period of June 1 to June 8 dropped 0.9 percent, according to the ministry.

"The unemployment rate shows a slight decline for the same period in 73 Russian regions, though the jobless rate in Altai Republic and Zabaykalsky region increased significantly," it said.

In Moscow, Penza region and Republic of Khakassia, the employment level stayed the same.

The average level of the registered unemployment rate in Russia was 1.3 percent of the total labor force on June 1, 2016, the same as in June 2015. Endi
