Jordan says resolving Palestinian issue key to regional conflicts

Xinhua, June 14, 2016 Adjust font size:

King Abdullah II of Jordan on Monday said resolving the Palestinian issue is the key to issues in the Middle East, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

The King made his remarks at a meeting with a delegation from the EU's political and security committee led by its chair Walter Stevens.

The lack of a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue in line with the two-state solution will fuel extremism and violence and will exacerbate the situation in the region and the world, he said.

Also on Monday, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Judeh and several other ministers met with the delegation, and they said the Palestinian issue is at the core of Middle East conflicts.

They called for re-launching serious, effective and time-specific peace talks that lead to the creation of an independent Palestinian state with east Jerusalem as its capital at the borders of 1967. Endit
