Two crew members killed in military helicopter crash in UAE

A military helicopter of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Armed Forces has crashed into the sea in an apparent accident in the Persian Gulf, killing both the pilot and the assistant onboard, the UAE military announced on Sunday.

The General Command of the UAE Armed Forces in Abu Dhabi said in a statement quoted by UAE state news agency WAM that the crash occurred during a "routine flight in international waters" in the Persian Gulf.

No further details were given on the type of helicopter involved, nor the exact location and the time of the crash.

The crash marked the second accident of this kind in the UAE within just one month.

On May 15, a UAE military aircraft crashed during a training flight in the country, resulting in the death of the crew which consisted of a pilot and an instructor. Endi
