Officials urge more cooperation in films and TV series translation

Xinhua, June 11, 2016 Adjust font size:

China wants more cooperation with other countries on film and TV series translation.

New cooperation in film and TV should be established, said Tian Jin, deputy head of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT), at a Saturday seminar in Shanghai.

"We should encourage exchanges in personnel, program production and research and development," Tian said.

The SAPPRFT has overseen translations of tens of thousands of episodes of TV series, films, cartoons and documentaries into more than 20 languages to be broadcast in more than 100 countries and regions.

Jing Junhai, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that he hoped Chinese and foreign experts would enhance communication to deepen mutual understanding and cooperation, in a bid to contribute much more to film and TV translations.

The seminar, a part of the 19th Shanghai International Film Festival, was attended by 55 delegates from 30 countries and a dozen Chinese representatives. Endi
