Japan's Q1 growth upgraded to 1.9-pct increase

The Japanese government said Wednesday that the economy expanded an annualized 1.9 percent in the the first quarter of this year on an inflation-adjusted basis.

The expansion in real gross domestic product translates to a 0.5-percent increase from the previous quarter, the Cabinet Office said on Wednesday.

This follows preliminary government data released on May 18 showing the economy grew an annualized real 1.7 percent in Q1. Endit
