CIS prime ministers focus on organization's cooperation

The optimization and adaptation of CIS to modern realities was the main topic of Tuesday's meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Prime Minister said on Tuesday.
"The meeting was held in a very constructive way. The attention was given to a wide range of cooperation in the framework of the CIS, including in the fields of economy, industry, energy, innovation and public health." Sooronbai Zheenbekov told a news briefing after the meeting.
According to Kyrgyz government press service, over a third of documents of the agenda are aimed at further broadening and deepening humanitarian cooperation.
"The Protocol is adopted between the states-participants of the Treaty on the free trade zone, conceptual documents are approved in the field of tackling cancer and pancreatic diabetes," said the Kyrgyz Prime Minister.
Zheenbekov noted that during the meeting the sides reaffirmed the need to preserve the CIS as a regional intergovernmental organization, reached a common understanding on the "relieving" of the agenda of the Council of Heads of State and the Council of Heads of Government, made proposals on some issues of work of the CIS bodies and the CIS Executive Committee, as well as developed on making inventory of the legal framework of the CIS.
"I am confident that the results of the meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council will become a good basis for a constructive exchange of views on the most pressing and urgent issues of further cooperation between our countries," said the Kyrgyz Prime Minister.
Zheenbekov believed that the CIS Heads of State Council Summit scheduled in September in Bishkek, where the statement of Heads of State on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the CIS will be adopted.
Meanwhile, chairman of the CIS Executive Committee, Sergei Lebedev, said that, 16 documents have been signed following the meeting, aimed at increasing the level of integration within the CIS.
A protocol decision is adopted on the elaboration of proposals aimed at improving the activity of the executive bodies of the CIS, and increase the efficiency of the organization, Lebedev added.
"These proposals will be submitted for consideration of the Council of the CIS Heads of State, which is held on September 16 this year in Bishkek," he said.
Lebedev also said that the next meeting of Council of CIS Heads of Government will be held on October 28, 2016 in Minsk, Belarus.
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Massimov, Moldova's Pavel Filip, Belarus' Andrei Kobyakov, Tajikistan's Kohir Rasulzoda, as well as Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Yaqub Eyyubov, First Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Rustam Azimov, Vice-Prime Minister of Armenia Vache Gabrielyan, Deputy Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Satlyk Satlykov took part in the meeting.
The CIS Council of Heads of Government, established on December 21, 1991, is the second major body in the CIS after the CIS Council of Heads of State, and consists of the prime ministers of all member states, coordinates the CIS member states' cooperation in economic, social and other areas of their common interests, and adopts corresponding decisions through consensus.
The CIS Council of Heads of Government convenes twice a year, normally in winter and autumn. Special meetings are summoned on the initiative of the government of a member state. Endit
