Grenade explosion injures 4 in Burundian capital

Four people were on Monday night seriously injured in a grenade explosion at Kamenge, north of the Burundian capital Bujumbura, police told Xinhua on Tuesday.

"Unidentified people exploded a grenade near a shop around 20:00 at Kavumu in Kamenge neighborhood, seriously injuring four persons. After the blast, they ran away," said Burundian Police Spokesman Pierre Nkurikiye.

According to him, investigations have started to identify the criminals.

Meanwhile, also on Monday, Colonel Emmanuel Nibizi, a senior Burundian army officer was injured on his legs after unidentified people aboard a car exploded a grenade inside Nibizi's car in Rohero near the traffic police barrack, 1 km north of Bujumbura.

"The army officer was immediately taken to hospital, and police agents are looking for the culprits," said Nkurikiye. Enditem
