Singapore stocks end up 0.59 pct

Singapore stocks finished higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 16.81 points, or 0.59 percent, to close at 2,848.09.

A total of 1.69 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 945.4 million Singapore dollars (700.3 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 262 to 129, while 518 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 22.05 points, or 0.78 percent, to close at 2,831.28 on Monday. Endit
