Kyrgyzstan, Russia sign agreements to boost ties

Kyrgyzstan and Russia signed a series of cooperation agreements after talks between the visiting Russian prime minister and his Kyrgyz counterpart here on Monday, announced the Kyrgyz government press service.

According to the press service, the two countries signed five cooperation agreements in the energy, labor, investment and other areas, including Agreement between the Governments of Kyrgyzstan and Russia on cooperation in the sphere of oil and oil products, Agreement on cooperation in the social and labor sphere between the Ministry of Labour and Social Development of the Kyrgyz Republic and so on.

Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Sooronbai Zheenbekov, appraising the outcome of talks with his Russian counterpart, saying that the talks were intense.

According to Zheenbekov, the two sides discussed issues of bilateral and international agenda, strengthening ties taking into account Kyrgyzstan's participation in the Eurasian Economic Union.

"Kyrgyzstan values the relations of strategic partnership with Russia. We value the relationship with the neighbor, who also did much to strengthen them. We agreed to intensify cooperation in terms of export of agricultural products, building direct investment and tourism," Zheenbekov said.

From his part, Dmitry Medvedev highlighted Russia's role in the trade and economic sphere of Kyrgyzstan and called to deepen cooperation.

"We're really close friends and partners with Kyrgyzstan. You mentioned that at the moment both of us have economic difficulties. This is true. It's better to overcome difficulties together," Medvedev said.

Russian Prime Minister, Dmitry Medvedev, has arrived in Kyrgyzstan on Monday morning for official visit and plan to take part in the meeting of CIS Heads of Government Council, which will take place on June 7 in Bishkek under the chairmanship of Kyrgyzstan. Enditem
