Xinhua, June 6, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Bulgaria-United States joint exercise Thracian Eagle 2016, involving eight F-15 jets from the Massachusetts Air National Guard, kicked off at Graf Ignatievo Air Base, officials said Monday.

The U.S. fighters will train together with Bulgarian MiG-29, Su-25, L-39ZA and C-27J Spartan aircraft, as well as helicopters AS 532 AL Cougar, Mi-24 and Mi-17, and anti-aircraft missile units, Bulgarian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The drill will continue until June 30, according to the Bulgarian Air Force training plan for 2016.

In 2015, military units of the Bulgarian army participated in 82 joint trainings and drills with the U.S. Army, the ministry said.

Bulgaria, a NATO member since 2004, signed a defense cooperation agreement with the United States in 2006. Endit
