On the World Environment Day that fell on Sunday, a campaign called "Tirana without Cars" was launched in the Albanian capital with an aim to raise public awareness about the need to improve air quality and decrease traffic congestion.

From this week, the campaign will be marked every Sunday until the final closure of the Skanderbeg Square, which will be transformed.

The Tirana municipality organized street rallies, bicycle parades and green concerts, including the "CupSong Albania" which was performed by 5,000 Albanian children in downtown Tirana.

The World Environment Day is observed on June 5 every year to raise global awareness about the need to protect nature and the Earth. It is run by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and is now celebrated in over 100 countries. Endi
