Singapore stocks close 0.78 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 22.05 points, or 0.78 percent, to close at 2,831.28.

A total of 859.5 million shares changed hands with turnover of 808.9 million Singapore dollars (594.8 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 212 to 191, while 506 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 14.14 points, or 0.51 percent, to close at 2,809.23 on Friday. Endit
