7 IS militants killed in coalition attack in Syria

Xinhua, June 6, 2016 Adjust font size:

Seven Islamic State (IS) militants were killed in Syria on Sunday in a joint operation by Turkey and a U.S.-led coalition, Dogan news agency reported on Monday.

Turkish artillery and U.S.-led coalition airstrikes targeted IS positions in northern Syria after the Turkish military detected IS militants preparing for attacks, Dogan quoted military sources as saying.

Rocket attacks from IS-controlled Syrian districts have killed 21 people and injured over 80 others this year in the Turkish border city of Kilis.

Also on Monday, three IS suspects were detained by local police in Nizip, a town in the southeastern Turkish province of Gaziantep. Endit
