China on Saturday dismissed a statement by the U.S. Department of State on the political turbulence in 1989, urging the United States not to harm bilateral ties.

"The Chinese government has already had the final verdict on the political turbulence that took place in the late 1980s as well as other relevant issues," said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying in a press release.

Hua said that the wrong remarks, which the U.S. side has made year after year, have severely infringed on China's internal affairs and violated the basic norms of international relations.

"China is strongly dissatisfied with and firmly opposed to that," Hua said.

She urged the United States to abandon political prejudice and rectify its wrongdoings to prevent obstructing and harming China-U.S. relations. Endi
