Desert sports games to be held in NW China

The 3rd Chinese Desert Sports Games will open on September 2 in Zhongwei City, northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, local authorities said Wednesday.

The five-day games, which is expected to attract over 800 athletes across the country, features six team and four individual events, including sand soccer, desert crossing, as well as four showcase events including Kart racing and sheepskin rafting.

Zhongwei, located at the south edge of Tengger Desert, is the fourth largest desert in China and boasts of various natural sceneries including desert, the Yellow River and wetland. It hosted the inaugural edition of the games in 2007. Endit
