Morocco and India on Wednesday launched a joint chamber of commerce and industry in Rabat in a bid to promote trade exchange and cooperation between the two countries.

The chamber is an opportunity to boost cooperation and relations between the Indian and Moroccan investors, Moroccan Prime Minister Abdelilah Benkirane said at the launching ceremony.

He stressed Morocco's commitment to providing support and coordinating efforts to promote ties with India in the cultural, social and political fields.

For his part, Indian Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari, who attended the ceremony, said the platform aims to develop bilateral relations and take advantage of the geostrategic location of the two countries to build a better future for Moroccan and Indian investors.

Ansari, who is leading a large delegation of Indian government officials and lawmakers, arrived in Morocco on Monday on a three-day official visit.

Morocco is Ansari's first leg in his tour in North Africa. He will visit Tunisia on Thursday. Endit
