Armenia to cut natural gas price by 6 pct

Xinhua, May 31, 2016 Adjust font size:

Armenia has cut the price of natural gas by 6 percent, according to state-run news agency Armenpress.

Starting from July 1 this year, natural gas in Armenia will be sold at 146 AMD per cubic meter (about 0.3 US dollar), from the previous 156 AMD (about 0.33 US dollar) per cubic meter priced in 2013.

On April 29, Gazprom Armenia, the company that produces and delivers natural gas in Armenia, filed an application for the price readjustment.

The price of natural gas in Armenia has changed with the tariff on Russian natural gas delivered to Armenia, which dropped to 150 US dollars per thousand cubic meters from the previous 165 US dollars. The tariff decrease was agreed upon between Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev during the latter's visit to Armenia in April.

Gazprom Armenia is a subsidiary of Gazprom PAO, the largest natural gas corporation in the world. Endi
