Xinhua, May 31, 2016 Adjust font size:

Russian Gazprom Company has been interested in investing in Iran's gas industry, deputy head of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Mojtaba Sheikh Bahaei, said on Tuesday.

The details were discussed here by the NIGC and Gazprom's task force for repair and maintenance of gas transmission and distribution networks, Sheikh Bahaei was quoted as saying by Iran's Petro-Energy Information Network (SHANA).

Investments and cooperation in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), repair and maintenance system of gas turbo compressors, turbine testing lab, leak detection of gas transformation pipelines were among the topics discussed between two sides on Monday, according to the report.

The Iranian official referred to the Gazprom role in providing Europe's energy demands, and said that Gazprom has proposed a plan for better distribution of gas across Iran.

The Iranian and Russian sides have agreed to continue their talks on ways of reducing gas consumption for home use, he said, adding they will also hold talks on the mechanisms of monitoring the Iranian gas stations and other facilities in the next meeting to be held in Russia.

Iran and Russia have established six task forces to explore ways to boost cooperation in gas industry. Endit
