The following are highlights of South African major media outlets on Tuesday.

-- South Africa has climbed from 53rd place to 52nd place out of 61 countries in the latest world competitiveness rankings by Swiss business school IMD, as much because many others did worse as because SA did better.

The business school's analysts flagged SA's poor skills and high unemployment, as well as poor public service delivery and perceived corruption as key concerns.(Business Day)

-- The decision by the South African Broadcasting Corporation to stop broadcasting images of violent protests smacks of autocracy and is deeply patronizing, the Congress of South African Trade Unions said on Monday.

The broadcaster was assuming South Africans were "impressionable and imbecilic citizens" who needed protection from "barbaric visuals", the trade union federation said in a statement.(News24)
