Slovak PM stresses VW Slovakia's importance for Slovak economy.

Xinhua, May 31, 2016 Adjust font size:

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico on Monday hailed the 25th anniversary of the Volkswagen Slovakia plant, stressing the importance of the company for the Slovak economy.

More than 4.5 million vehicles of 13 different models and 6.8 million gearboxes have been produced by the Volkswagen Slovakia plant (VW Slovakia) over the years.

"Volkswagen Bratislava has a great impact on Slovakia and the Slovak industry," Fico said, as the largest car maker in Slovakia is celebrating its 25th anniversary on Monday.

He added that the industry represents the largest volume of annual GDP (gross domestic product) in Slovakia.

"This actually means that every sixth job is either in engineering or the automotive industry. Every job that emerges in the automotive industry creates another 2.6-2.7 jobs indirectly," said Fico. Endit
