Indonesia kicks off badminton Super Series with largest bonus

The Indonesia Open badminton tournament kicked off here on Monday with the world's largest amount of prize at 900,000 US dollars, or 100,000 dollars higher than that of last year.

The total reward was the highest among this year's Super Series agenda of the Badminton World Federation. The second highest would be the Australia Super Series at 750,000 dollars. And Denmark and China Super Series would equally provide 700,000 dollars.

As one of the world's premier badminton tournaments, the 2016 Indonesia Open at its landmark arena of Istora Senayan was presenting 10 best players of each category.

Among those best confirmed for their participation were Lin Dan (China), Carolina Marin (Spain), Lee Yong Dae/Yoo Yeon Seong (South Korea), Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi (Japan) Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei (China).

Indonesia would present its best who had seized championships of international events, including men's doubles Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan and mixed doubles Tontowi Ahmad/Lilyana Natsir.

The hosts were targeting to secure three titles in the Open that would last till June 5, with the mixed doubles being highly expected. The other titles expected were from the women's doubles and men's doubles.

More than 300 players from 24 countries and regions were taking part in the week-long tournament. Endit
