Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Egyptian counterpart Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi sent congratulations to each other Monday to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

In his message, Xi said that both great nations of China and Egypt have been engaging in wide-range communication and cooperation in such areas as politics, economy and trade, and people-to-people exchanges since 60 years ago, which has yielded substantial results.

Xi said that China-Egypt relations have become the paragon of China's exchanges with Arab and African countries, as well as South-South cooperation.

"Looking forward, we are confident about the rosy prospects of the China-Egypt relations," Xi said, adding that he was willing to work with Sisi to deepen the two countries' comprehensive strategic partnership, so as to further benefit the two nations and two peoples.

For his part, Sisi said in his message that the two countries have conducted close cooperation in the political, economic and cultural areas, and maintained high-level coordination in regional and international issues of common concern.

"We consider Egypt's relations with China as the most important and prominent component of our country's foreign relations," Sisi said.

He added that the upgrading of bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership exemplifies the resolve of the leaders and peoples of the two countries to enhance their cooperation and improve the people's welfare, in a bid to fulfill the aspiration of the two peoples for stability and development.
