Italian police have destroyed an international drug traffic network, with international raid resulting in the arrest of 38 people, including 31 Albanians, Albanian police confirmed Friday.

A total of 130 kg of heroin and cocaine as well as 300,000 euros in cash were seized in the raid, Deputy General Director of Albanian State Police Ardian Cipa said.

Ardian said the investigations started back in 2014, when the authorities uncovered a criminal ring with ties in north Italy and Albania.

During the investigations, Italian police identified the Albanian suppliers and carriers who smuggled drugs by disguised vehicles.

The criminal ring trafficked drugs to Spain, Italy, the Netherlands and Belgium. They also manged to transport the proceeds from the sale of drugs to Albania by truck or bus, according to officials. Endit
