Croatia beats Moldova 1-0 in EURO warmup

Xinhua, May 28, 2016 Adjust font size:

Former Leicester City striker Andrej Kramaric scored Friday the only goal for Croatia in a 1-0 win over Moldova, which couldn't impress national head coach Ante Cacic nor Croatian football fans.

Even though Cacic still waits for main Croatian stars to join the team in the coming days, it took only 9 minutes for Hoffenheim striker Kramaric to put Croatia on the scoreboard.

Three minutes later defender Sime Vrsaljko came close to score his first ever goal for Croatia when he lobed Moldavian goalkeeper but only managed to hit the post. For the rest of the first half Croatian footballers where attacking but without any serious challenges for visiting goalkeeper.

In the second half Croatian head coach tried with the younger lineup, like Alen Halilovic from Barcelona and Marko Rog from Dinamo Zagreb.

Malaga forward Duje Cop also got a full 45 minutes as he came close to scoring his first goal for Croatia twice.

"The final result was not that important. We created some chances but couldn't convert them. Moldavians didn't come close to scoring and that is satisfying," Cacic said. Endit
