Georgia celebrated the 25th Independence Day on Thursday to commemorate the adoption of the Act of Independence on May 26, 1918.

By tradition, a major public celebration was held along the capital Tbilisi's main Rustaveli Avenue and at the central Freedom Square.

In downtown Tbilisi, various commemorative activities including exhibitions, street theater performances, concerts and other entertainment events, attracted thousands of people, while sporting events like basketball and soccer games, were staged for the public.

Military equipment, including battle tanks, armored vehicles and other armaments, was also on display in the central square.
