Vietnamese party sets up working groups to supervise key corruption cases

The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) is to set up seven working groups to examine and supervise the investigation, prosecution and trials of key corruption and economic cases.
The CPV chief Nguyen Phu Trong, who is also head of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-corruption, has lately signed the decision, which was made public on the website of the Central Internal Affairs Commission, standing body of the CPV Central Steering Committee for Anti-corruption on Thursday.
The working groups will be headed by CPV politburo members Tran Quoc Vuong, To Lam and other high-ranking officials.
Under the decision, the inspection work will focus on the leadership and instruction of all-level Party committees and organizations over the detection and handling of corruption acts, the handling of corruption and economic cases by local competent agencies and units, asset reclamation and coordination between competent agencies in the work among others.
Inspection results are to be reported to the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption within two months from Aug. 20 to Oct. 20, 2016.
In early 2013, the CPV Politburo decided to set up the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption, which is responsible for directing, coordinating, supervising and accelerating the work of anti-corruption nationwide. Endit
